Arguably Rusty Eye’s best album, released in 2009, Possessor is the album that established Rusty Eye as one of the most original acts in the genre, with its seamless mix of elements from Thrash, NWOBHM, Punk, Hard Rock, Speed Metal Death Metal, Black Metal and Prog Rock.
The critically acclaimed third album was Produced by Drummer/Vocalist Miss Randall, and mixed by Jeremy Blair (Guns n’ Roses), Possessor also includes collaborations from Claudio Simonetti (Goblin), Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc) and Alex Mitchell (Circus of Power). The artwork was done by Joe Petagno, better known for most Motörhead album covers.
Currently Miss Randall, Mr Rust and Baron Murtland are in the studio recording the follow up album to Saca el Cobre, to be released in 2017.

Rusty Eye takes on Los Angeles Metro!

Hollywood’s horror-themed Metal trio Rusty Eye has just released a commercial for Los Angeles County’s Metro. Rusty Eye is featured promoting Nextrip, which allows users to get real-time bus and train arrival information on GPS-enabled smart phones or computers. Rusty Eye wrote and recorded the music specifically for the commercial. Metro LA’s new Music Videos campaign is intended as a fun way to help folks learn to ride the Metro system and remind everyone that taking transit can be fun and/or interesting.

Power Play Magazine UK. “Saca el Cobre” Review

Rusty Eye are a band in transition, with this being a parting album for female drummer Miss Randall, who also shares vocal duties. “Saca el Cobre”, or to give it its English name “Bring Out The Copper”, is a homage to Mexican metal. These Hollywood residents give us their take on eight tracks that range from the utterly fantastic “Cara de Pizza” to the English spoken last track, “Mr. Cannibal”. What you get in between is some really good dual vocal songs in the native Mexican tongue, taken to the absolute extreme of the heavy scale for me.
Whilst the production is very crisp, it lends itself to the ferocity of the music and really brings home the power that these guys are going for. It is a short set, with only eight songs on here, but it hits you right where it wants to, and as the meaning of the album title says, it “shows its true self”.

WHAT’S WHAT: A product of Mexico City, Mexico, RUSTY EYE are the epitome of hard work in the music business. With a “make it or break it” attitude, the three piece could have gone anywhere when they left Mexico, but they went straight for the throat of the Heavy Metal scene in America and claimed Hollywood, California as base of operations. Nobody puts RUSTY EYE in a corner, meaning that you can’t slap a label on this band and lump them in with anybody else. The current lineup, consisting of Mr. Rust (bass/vocals), Miss Randall (drums/vocals) and Baron Murtland (guitars) broke the mold with the release of Stendhal Syndrome (2007), and followed strong with the impossible to wear out Possessor (2009), all on their own imprint Epoché Records. Constant work has earned them the respect of metal fans the world over, and also the love of critics in both the music and horror world, as they have done things the old school way, bypassing all of the bullshit and devoting themselves to standing out by writing and playing the gnarliest music possible. Now a certified legend in the Hollywood scene, RUSTY EYE have taken to the legendary Rainbow to record and unleash upon a new live album upon us. Live at The Rainbow MMX is 70-odd minutes of succulent metal, tinged with punk rock, including all the platters that matter from the fifteen-plus career of these DIY heroes. If this band isn’t already one of your favorites, they damn well need to be. (Bubbs Harris)
