March 27th 2016, The Regent, Los Angeles CA: Bringing together rock ‘n roll and wrestling in a unique live performance based entertainment form, the Rock ‘N Roll Wrestling Bash “Exotrash” was created in 2003, and after several years of success in Europe, has finally made its way to the United States, following multiple attempts to do so. The inaugural U.S. edition of the event took place at the Regent in downtown Los Angeles last Sunday March 27th 2016. This was an unknown entity to locals, but many turned up to discover what it was all about, expecting an evening of non-stop entertainment.
Doors opened at 7 PM, and the scene inside the Regent was obviously very different from what a regular concertgoer would otherwise expect. There was a wrestling ring set up in the center of the general admission floor, adjoining the stage in such a way that performers would easily be able to step in and out between the ring and the stage. Upon entering the venue, attendees were made to sign an injury release form, basically signing their lives away in case any wrestlers were to fly out of the ring and into the crowd. At 8 PM, the musical opening act Rusty Eye began proceedings with an excellent set. This progressive metal trio has been around in the LA scene for a number of years, they have been participating as the musical act in Mexican underground wrestling events, and were the ideal choice as the openers for this show as well. They don’t play nearly as many shows as they once used to, which makes each of their shows even more worth attending. Ticket holders that arrived early enough to catch this band were not disappointed, as was evident from the general applause following the set. – See more at: http://metalassault.com/gig_reviews/2016/04/01/inaugural-us-edition-of-rock-n-roll-wrestling-bash-takes-place-at-the-regent/#sthash.PzCAgzP3.dpuf

Rusty Eye proudly presents collaboration with solo artist Sergio Arau in his new musical phase.

IMG_0108cropSergio Arau is one of the most iconic personalities in Mexican Rock en Español. He was one of the founding members of the eighties seminal band “Botellita de Jerez” and has released 3 albums as a solo artist. Simultaneously, his talents go beyond music and has directed music videos, animations, and movies. He is best known for directing the film “A Day Without a Mexican”.

Sergio Arau saw Rusty Eye play live and thought it would be a good match to incorporate their sound with his blend of Hard Rock, Metal and Punk with traditional Mexican Folk Music. The whole trio has joined as his backing band.

Jorge Herrera, from the famous “Hermanos Herrera” joined as a multi-instrumentalist. He plays a wide array of traditional Mexican folk instruments such as: Huapango violin, Jarana Jarocha, Accordion, and the Requinto Jarocho (to name a few).

The band has recorded a single called “No Me Late la Tira (Ni me Latirá)” which roughly translates to “I Don’t Like the Cops (and Never will). They plan on recording a new Sergio Arau solo album and will be playing shows soon.

Rusty Eye welcomes this new project as it brings back drummer Miss Randall, together with bassist Mr. Rust and guitarist Baron Murtland. A brand new Rusty Eye studio album in English is in talks as well.

Hot Flashes

Hollywood metal band RUSTY EYE has released its new record Saca El Cobre, a hard rock and heavy metal homage to Mexican Rock En Español while saying farewell to longtime drummer, Miss Randall. With Saca El Cobre, Rusty Eye is paying homage to its Mexico City roots by covering songs of some of the most prolific Rock En Español bands from the late 80s and early 90s, all reinvented with Rusty Eye’s signature hard and heavy style. The album includes seven covers in Spanish from Mexico’s most notable Rock pioneers: CAIFANES, CUCA, CAFÉ TACUBA, FOBIA, AMANTES DE LOLA, MALDITA VECINDAD and TRANSMETAL. It also includes Rusty Eye’s hit single ‘Mr. Cannibal’ re-recorded in both English and Spanish. The release of the new album coincides with drummer Miss Randall pursuing new musical endeavors, having her throne filled by a session drummer for live concerts. As part of her farewell, Miss Randall will be participating with the album promotion, including music videos filmed in Mexico City, as well as some select live appearances.

Rusty Eye is constantly in a never-ending effort to top previous musical accomplishments. Pablo “Mr. Rust” Salido (Vocals/Bass) comments, “This marks the beginning of a new era, it’s not the first time we have adapted to changes made by our musical tendencies. Rusty Eye’s essence is based on the evolution of the music”. Tony “Baron” Murtland (Guitar) adds, “Our life’s journey is ever-changing, but we will always continue to reach new musical horizons.”

Rusty Eye’s new album Saca El Cobre was produced by Baron Murtland and mixed by Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, SACRED REICH, W.A.S.P), and marks a new production standard for the band. Saca El Cobre (“Bring out the copper”) is a Spanish saying that means: show your true self, defining the bands reinvention of these classic songs. This hard-hitting, high concept, cover album is a must for anyone who loves intricate hard metal!

Saca El Cobre limited edition CDs are now available at Amazon.com and digitally on most download and streaming services.

Hollywood’s eclectic power trio goes back to its Mexican roots and brings us unique versions of the great Rock en Español classics.

Just when we thought that the mighty metallers Rusty Eye could not do anything else anymore to surprise us, they return with their fourth album “Saca el Cobre” singing in Spanish for the first time in their career, bringing us their unique and disturbing take on the songs that paved Rock en Español’s way in Mexico in the years 1989 to 1992.

From Cuca‘s “Cara de Pizza” to Amantes de Lola‘s “Mamá”, to quintessential bands in the genre like Fobia, Caifanes, Café Tacuba and Maldita Vecindad, all of them transformed to Rusty Eye‘s bizarre style that includes a bit of Thrash, Punk, Death, Black, Stoner and Prog. Masterfully alternating the vocal work of Miss Randall, on her last album with Rusty Eye since she’s pursuing a solo career (she has never sounded so sensual like she does on “Perdí Mi Ojo De Venado”), with Mr. Rust‘s usual howls and guttural vocals, that bring back to life underground classics such as Transmetal‘s “El Infierno de Dante”. Always accompanied by the proficient guitarist Baron Murtland. Certainly we will never listen to Mexican rock the same way we did. As the icing on the cake we also get the remake of “Sr. Cannibal”, the Spanish version of “Mr. Cannibal”, a staple from this talented band.

———————————-
