Rusty Eye are a band in transition, with this being a parting album for female drummer Miss Randall, who also shares vocal duties. “Saca el Cobre”, or to give it its English name “Bring Out The Copper”, is a homage to Mexican metal. These Hollywood residents give us their take on eight tracks that range from the utterly fantastic “Cara de Pizza” to the English spoken last track, “Mr. Cannibal”. What you get in between is some really good dual vocal songs in the native Mexican tongue, taken to the absolute extreme of the heavy scale for me.
Whilst the production is very crisp, it lends itself to the ferocity of the music and really brings home the power that these guys are going for. It is a short set, with only eight songs on here, but it hits you right where it wants to, and as the meaning of the album title says, it “shows its true self”.
