Following the success of their last Rock en Español covers album “Saca el Cobre” and the collaboration with artist Sergio Arau as his backing band The Heavy Mex, Rusty Eye has been busy working on their forthcoming studio album “Dissecting Shadows”, which promises to be their most ambitious release ever. A process that’s been delayed due to busy touring schedules with The Heavy Mex side project. Rusty Eye felt that this was a good time to finally release the long lost “Rust n’ Roll over again EP”, as a reminder that Rusty Eye still active and going strong and that there’s a new studio album right around the corner.
“When we moved to LA back in 2004, no one in the local scene knew who we were. We had to go back to re-establish ourselves. A that time, we only had our debut album to show up for, and although that was recorded with a different line-up, those were the songs we used to play at bars prior to the release of “Stendhal Syndrome” (2006). The band’s sound had also evolved, so we thought it would be a good idea to re-record them, then the EP was shelved due to unforeseen circumstances and a failed label deal”

The idea to revisit the project happened when Josue Gonzalez, the original producer for Rust n’ Roll (2001) remixed the original version of the track “Return of The Scarecrow” some months ago and it got over 6,000 spins on Soundcloud in just a couple days. That’s when Rusty Eye found the 5 shelved re-recorded tracks from the “Possessor” (2009) sessions by producers Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory) and Jeremy Blair (Guns n’ Roses) and recruited Roberto de la Peña (Here Comes The Kraken, Hello Seahorse) to properly mix them for the first time.
“I always felt we owed this release to the people that supported us in our early LA club days, of course we have released these improved versions of the songs on our two live albums, but it’s just not the same as having a studio version available, not to mention the original Rust n’ Roll had awesome songs and the low budget production kind of hurt their full potential”
